  • Morgan County's 11th annual Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving through downtown Decatur—locals can run or walk the route to join the long-standing tradition.  Decatur Daily
  • The Historic Decatur Association announced the winners of the merchant Christmas decorating challenge today — a contest that sets the stage for the Christmas Open House, which will kick off the holiday season on Thursday.   Decatur Daily

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Morgan County EMA cleared the scene at Bunge food processing company in Decatur on Thursday morning after fire crews responded to a HAZMAT chemical spill — no shelter in place or evacuations were needed — and they continue to monitor cleanup efforts.  WAAY-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Department of Human Resources announced that full SNAP benefits for November will be released immediately after processing files sent to the EBT vendor so recipients receive funds on their cards today. Governor Kay Ivey praised the federal reopening and noted that those with later issuance dates will receive benefits on schedule.  News 19

  • Carlos Vasquez dubbed his yellow bowling ball the giant lemon and threw for a spare during the Athens—Limestone County Special Olympics Bowling Tournament in Decatur on Thursday, with students enjoying a fun day of friendly competition.  Decatur Daily
