  • Target will launch its annual car seat trade-in event at local stores from Sept. 21 through Oct. 4. Parents who drop off expired or unused car seats and join the Target Circle rewards program will receive a 20% discount on new car seats or select baby gear, with the old seats being recycled into new products.  News 19

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Department of Environmental Management awarded over $2.5 million in recycling grants statewide—Decatur and Lawrence County will use the funds to boost local recycling programs.  Decatur Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Morgan County Circuit Court Judge dismissed a lawsuit filed on Sept. 4 by Decatur citizen Maurice Ayers that challenged municipal election results by alleging incomplete ballots caused the mayoral race winner to be named too soon. Judge Stephen Brown dismissed both counts on Friday, leaving the election outcome unchanged.  WAAY-TV
  • Decatur Utilities and city officials have a plan to repair roads damaged by sewer rehabilitation—an issue that was highlighted during the summer election campaigns. The proposed repairs will help improve travel and ease residents' concerns.  Decatur Daily
