- ➤ Two suspects charged with a gas station robbery turned themselves in late Wednesday after police responded at Sunoco on Beltline Road Southwest on Aug. 19—while two other suspects were taken into custody on robbery charges. WAAY-TV
- ➤ Decatur police have arrested 32 suspects over the past month in Operation First Light—targeting individuals with outstanding felony warrants. Decatur Daily
- ➤ Paulette Tennison, the mother of John Scott Jr. who died in Decatur police custody after being arrested in April at Brookridge Apartments, filed a 109-page wrongful death lawsuit on August 29 against Decatur and several law enforcement officials—alleging 30 counts including assault, battery and violations of his federal rights. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Calhoun Community College is opening its new 57,200-square-foot Advanced Technology Center in Tanner to give students hands-on training in fields like aerospace, welding, and advanced machining.
