  • The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce announced a new referral program in partnership with Fiserv – Clover and local consultant Dana McKean to offer members exclusive pricing, special promotions and one-on-one local support. When members sign up and activate a Clover account, the Chamber receives a small recurring revenue share that helps fund its programs.  Decatur Chamber of Commerce

CRIME NEWS

  • Priceville Police launched Monday’s Most Wanted on July 28 to clear active warrants—and posted the first notice on August 4. The department seeks 31-year-old Phillip Dale Acton, wanted for probation violations and missing court, and he was seen on Union Hill Road in Somerville.  News 19

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported that as of July 28, Decatur's gas averaged $2.72 for regular, $3.16 for mid-grade and $3.53 for premium—below national averages of $3.15, $3.62 and $3.98—showing similar trends across North Alabama.  Rocket City Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Some families in Cullman, Lawrence, Marion, Morgan, Walker, and Winston counties may be eligible for free weatherization help through federally funded assistance. The Community Action Partnership of North Alabama is now accepting applications to improve home safety—applications can be mailed to 1909 Central Parkway SW in Decatur, emailed, or submitted online.  News 19

HEALTH NEWS

  • Decatur-Morgan Hospital is offering free swim lessons for Morgan County children through Drake’s Fund—created in honor of 3-year-old Drake Wyatt who drowned on November 27, 2009—to teach essential water safety skills. Donations are accepted to support the program and help prevent similar tragedies.  News 19
