- ➤ Followers Feeding Families, a Decatur nonprofit founded by Patricia Helton, will host a giveaway event at True Faith Ministries on Beltline Road on Aug. 2 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.—the event will offer school supplies and other necessities to hundreds of families, and volunteers are needed on Aug. 1 to help set up. - ➤ Decatur Police Department warns residents about card skimmers that criminals install at gas pumps and ATMs to steal card data, urging anyone who sees a loose device to shake it+and report the incident to law enforcement+and the business. WAAY-TV
- ➤ Cesar Gonzales, 47, was arrested by the Limestone County Sheriff's Office on charges of rape and sexual abuse of a 14-year-old after investigators began a case on June 27 — a hearing under Aniah’s Law kept him in custody without bond as ICE placed a detainer on him due to his citizenship status.
