  • Point Mallard Park is facing a major internet outage caused by a cut fiber line that has delayed its waterpark opening at 10 a.m. today for guest safety. The park's campground and golf course remain open but are operating on a cash-only basis due to the lack of phone and computer services.  Rocket City Now

CRIME NEWS

  • Early on Friday at 2:45 a.m., Priceville police pulled over Michael Andrew Phillips (33) of Huntsville along I-65 near the 333-mile marker and, after finding fentanyl, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, arrested him on drug charges; a Morgan County judge later set his bond at $22,000.  News 19

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Morgan County Schools had a record year on AP exams as students scored higher than ever before—showing clear improvement in their academics.  Decatur Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Point Mallard and Decatur Parks & Recreation experienced service outages on July 18th when a cut fiber disrupted internet, phone lines, and computer access. The waterpark did not open at 10 a.m. while the campground and golf course operated as cash-only with no phone service.  News 19

  • Starting pitcher George Klassen pitched 5.2 scoreless innings with one hit as Rocket City Trash Pandas beat Columbus Clingstones 4-1 Friday night.   • The Rocket City Trash Pandas are hosting a fun-filled weekend at Toyota Field from July 18 to July 20 — Friday featured a Tennessee Titans Night, while today offers fireworks and Margaritaville Night with a live jersey auction.
