  • At a meeting on June 13 at the Decatur-Morgan County Entrepreneurial Center, Chamber Commodores toured the facility and heard from Executive Director John Joseph about small business support and the Best & Brightest program, and they named Victoria Read of Live Vibrantly! as the Greater Morgan County Builders Association Commodore of the Month for June.  Decatur Chamber of Commerce

CRIME NEWS

  • Priceville police stopped a vehicle near I-65 around 5 p.m. on Sunday and after speaking with driver Boris Tyrek Todd, officers found a swapped engine from a stolen 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat plus marijuana and a handgun.  News 19
  • Police in Priceville arrested 26-year-old Boris Tyrek Todd during a traffic stop at mile marker 330 on Interstate 65 around 5 p.m. Sunday after they found a stolen engine from a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and a small amount of marijuana—he now faces charges for receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of marijuana with an $80,000 bond.  WAAY-TV

  • Candidates have qualified for all mayor, City Council and school board seats in Decatur as qualifying remains open until June 24—voters must update registration details at least 14 days before the election on August 26.  Rocket City Now

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama A&M University picked student-athletes Kylan Duncan and Trey Rutledge on Tuesday to compete in the HBCU Swingman Classic, presented by T-Mobile and powered by the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation. The event (held during MLB All-Star Week) will take place on Friday, July 11 at Truist Park where 50 HBCU players will show their skills.  WAAY-TV
