CRIME NEWS

  • A Florida man identified as Wayne Jeremy Miller Jr., 34, was arrested after officers pulled his vehicle over along I-65 near Priceville Saturday at 10:24 p.m. when they found marijuana and percocet pills; he was booked into Morgan County Jail with bond set at $100,000.  News 19
  • Decatur police said that a 50-year-old man (accused of stabbing his 79-year-old father) died of natural causes after officers responded at 7:26 p.m. on Saturday at the 2400 block of Harpeth Place SW, and his father suffered non-life-threatening injuries.  WAAY-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ALDOT began resurfacing 23 miles of I-65 from Hurricane Creek to the I-565 interchange in Morgan County on Monday to fix potholes and repair two bridges—drivers along the interstate should expect nightly lane closures from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday with heavy traffic near Upper River Road between June 28 and July 2. ALDOT also started a Monday afternoon project resurfacing SR-255 in Huntsville with single-lane closures nightly until fall.  News 19

SPORTS NEWS

  • Decatur’s new Jimmy John’s pickleball center at Point Mallard opened today as a 15,000-square-foot facility with 12 courts and a $2.6 million investment that can also host events—tournaments and free clinics are planned to promote the sport. Starting June 27th, a fee will be charged while kids 18 and under can still play free.  WAAY-TV
