- ➤ Jury selection began Monday for Brian Mann—a 36-year-old chiropractor from Hartselle accused of trying to poison his wife—and he remains out on bond with an ankle monitor while his trial opens with statements scheduled for today. WAAY-TV

- ➤ Juneteenth celebrations across North Alabama will honor the end of slavery with events ranging from parades to festivals — including the Morgan County NAACP Parade in Decatur, which will travel from downtown to A.C. Banks Park on June 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other festivities in Huntsville, Athens and beyond will feature live music, food trucks and family activities. Rocket City Now

- ➤ SAIL has expanded funding to fight summer learning loss by adding a Care Center in North Alabama and partnering with program sites in Owens Crossroads, New Hope, plus Gurley to help students keep their math and reading skills sharp. Last summer the organization supported programs in 20 counties and will serve 31 counties this summer while also offering individual assessments to track student progress. WAAY-TV

- ➤ Decatur City Councilman Hunter Pepper announced his re-election campaign yesterday to keep serving District 4 and the city. He said his next term will focus on business growth, improved infrastructure, and support for youth programs—efforts that build on his close win in 2020. News 19
