- ➤ Communities in North Alabama will hold Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 26 to honor soldiers who died in service. Events include a wreath-laying at 9:00 a.m. in Scottsboro, a 2:00 p.m. service in Guntersville, and ceremonies at Veterans Memorial Parks in Florence-Lauderdale and Huntsville — additional services are planned in Athens, Decatur, and Boaz. - ➤ Robert Tyler Wicks, a Decatur resident, faces federal charges for allegedly sending bomb threat texts with personal details to Bangor International Airport employees on Feb. 13, spurring a multi-state law enforcement response and flight disruptions — he later admitted making the calls himself after falsely blaming a friend. - ➤ A Hartselle man, Zachary Justin Akridge, 44, and a Falkville woman, Michelle Layne Demike, 43, were charged with drug trafficking after Priceville police pulled over their vehicle near Point Mallard Parkway and Indian Hills Road at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday — officers found a methamphetamine and fentanyl mix along with a portable scale.
