- ➤ Police arrested Billy Michael Johnson II on Monday on the 900 block of Boys Ranch Rd after a wreck on April 5 left a damaged 2024 Chevrolet Corvette that struck a parked vehicle in Decatur, and investigators found he reported the car stolen to fraudulently claim about $70,000 in insurance money while he was booked on a $30,000 bond. - ➤ On May 10, two Morgan County Tech Park juniors, Mason Lawrence and Turner Wray, signed letters of intent for summer internships with Hubbard & Drake General-Mechanical Contractors, Inc. The internships could lead to work opportunities during their senior year as part of a collaboration between Hubbard & Drake, Morgan County Schools and the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce. - ➤ Decatur Mayor Tab Bowling held a news conference Tuesday morning at City Hall to deny Councilman Billy Jackson's claim that a police officer provided false information to the Fultondale police chief about the new police chief. - ➤ Tuesday, the Senate confirmed Troy Meink as Secretary of the Air Force by a vote of 74—25. Sources say an announcement on relocating U.S. Space Command headquarters from Colorado to Huntsville is expected soon— a move that could bring more than 4,000 jobs to the region. Rocket City Now
