  • Multiple agencies responded to an overturned 18-wheeler on Beltline Road near the Bama Pawn Shop in Decatur on May 12 — authorities said no one was injured, southbound lanes were blocked, and drivers were advised to take an alternate route.  News 19

CRIME NEWS

  • A Tuscaloosa man was stopped on I-65 Sunday in Priceville when police found packaged marijuana + a pound of synthetic narcotics/THC and a stolen firearm in his vehicle and charged him with drug-related offenses.  Decatur Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Kay Ivey announced Monday that the Office of Information Technology responded to a cybersecurity event affecting some state systems. The event was first detected Friday evening and teams worked with a third-party cybersecurity firm to secure services—state employees were advised to be cautious with suspicious emails.  WAAY-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Morgan County Health Department released the latest health inspection scores for establishments inspected May 5th–10th that measure compliance on a 100-point scale. Some Decatur venues had critical issues such as Francesco's Italian Restaurant showing insect presence + Burger King reporting improper storage of toxic chemicals.  WAAY-TV

  • The Rocket City Trash Pandas are revealing two new alternate identities at a barbecue-themed weekend at Toyota Field on June 13 and 14. Fans will join pop-up parties at local BBQ joints starting today — tickets cost $8 while merchandise is available online and in team stores.  WAAY-TV
