- ➤ Blue Origin is expanding its Huntsville operations with 100 new positions for thruster production and will grow its Alabama workforce to about 300 employees (a sign of steady local aerospace growth). Decatur Daily
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A cyberattack on Canvas may have exposed personal data from Alabama schools; Instructure confirmed names, emails and student IDs were accessed. The company is working with cybersecurity experts and law enforcement and must respond by May 12 to hackers + keep systems secure. Rocket City Now
- ➤ Two new principals and an elementary curriculum coordinator were named by the Hartselle Board of Education Tuesday — the appointments will take effect June 1 as part of a curriculum alignment effort for Hartselle schools. Decatur Daily
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The $16.5 million Interstate 65 resurfacing project will resume Sunday evening, weather permitting, from just south of State Route 36 in Hartselle to south of the I565 interchange. Drivers should expect single-lane closures 6 p.m. + 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. WAAY-TV

- ➤ Bob Jones High School advanced to Saturday's state championship with a 3-2 double overtime win over Hewitt-Trussville after Zachary McGee scored the winning goal with 5-4 seconds left; the team will face Auburn next. WAAY-TV
- ➤ North Alabama’s softball team was eliminated 1 to 0 (senior pitcher Katie Simon threw 124 pitches) in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship on Thursday, May 7 at Jacksonville, ending its season at 36 to 16. WAAY-TV
