CRIME NEWS
- ➤ William Landers and five others were arrested after a city council work session last week in Decatur—he faces trespassing, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and is banned from city buildings for two years while he said he is upset about not being allowed to speak at meetings as public comments remain on tonight's agenda. - ➤ A pedestrian was struck and killed by an 18-wheeler early Monday morning in Morgan County, according to the Sheriff's Office. Decatur Daily

- ➤ The Chamber, with partners AIDT and Career Connect, will host a hiring event on Wednesday, May 28 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fort Decatur Recreation Center where employers and job seekers will network, show job openings and conduct on-site interviews plus register by May 21. - ➤ AAA reported that as of May 5, Decatur drivers paid an average of $2.69 per gallon for regular gas—$3.12 for mid-grade and $3.47 for premium—while national prices were higher at $3.16, $3.63 and $3.99 respectively. Rocket City Now
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Morgan County Health Department released inspection scores for food and lodging establishments inspected from April 28th through May 3rd—several sites across the area were evaluated. Tippy Toes Day Care in Decatur scored 88 after inspectors found rodents in its kitchen while other scores ranged from 76 to 100 with three sites earning perfect marks. WAAY-TV
