- ➤ A new temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be built in North Alabama at the corner of Gillespie Road and Old Madison Pike to reduce the drive from Birmingham (which takes an hour and a half). The temple will welcome all visitors when construction is complete in the next five years (highlighting the growth of local membership). WAAY-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Decatur Police Department arrested Aushad Malik Shaw on April 28 for domestic violence and obstructing justice after a Jan. 26 disturbance at the 300 block of Mockingbird Lane SW left a woman with head injuries—Shaw faces a $16,000 bond and has been booked in Morgan County Jail. News 19
- ➤ On Thursday, a Hartselle man, 53-year-old Walter Scott Simpson, was arrested for SORNA violations after failing to update required registration information & missing his registration deadline, and he was taken to Morgan County Jail & his bond was revoked for previous conditions. WAAY-TV
