  • Tennessee-based nonprofit OneGenAway will host a drive-thru mobile pantry event at Hartselle High School on May 3 starting at 8:45 a.m., offering free groceries including fresh produce and pantry staples on a first come, first served basis until about 9:45 a.m., and volunteers are invited to arrive by 7:30 a.m. with no registration required.  News 19

  • Emotional outbursts at the Decatur city council work session on Monday ended with an arrest after a brief scuffle with police—anger over calls for accountability for John Scott Jr.'s death led Council President Jacob Ladner to abruptly end the meeting.  News 19
  • Morgan County inmate Chaz Mandale Reed attacked two corrections officers in Decatur on Thursday when he punched one and headbutted another, breaking an officer’s nose — Reed was arrested on April 23 and now faces charges for third-degree robbery, third-degree escape and resisting arrest while investigators seek a warrant for second-degree assault.  News 19

  • AAA reported that on Monday, April 28, regular gasoline in Decatur averaged $2.71 per gallon while mid-grade and premium cost $3.14 and $3.54 respectively — the national averages for regular, mid-grade and premium are $3.15, $3.62 and $3.98 per gallon.  Rocket City Now
