ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday, a person was reportedly hit by a train near Hall Avenue and Derrick Street around 12:22 p.m.—Madison County coroner Tyler Berryhill confirmed the death.  News 19

CRIME NEWS

  • A Decatur man was arrested on Thursday and held on a $60K bond after two juveniles failed a meth drug screen, with the Morgan County Department of Human Resources reporting the incident to Decatur Police.  Decatur Daily
  • The Decatur Police Department said an adult man was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital at 6:33 p.m. Friday from a shooting near Memorial Drive NW and 1st Street NW — police believe the incident was isolated.  News 19

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Marshall County EMA said that multiple roads remain closed due to flooding and high water—roads closed include 7th from King to Jarrah, Hawthorn north of 8B, 8B and Hawthorn, 8th and Iris, and 15th and Michigan—with additional high water on Plymouth-LaPorte Trail and Rose, 5th and Grape, Gumwood and SR 10, and Hickory from 7th to 8th. Officials are monitoring the situation and will update the public as new information becomes available.  News 19

  • Decatur Utilities announced a sanitary sewer rehabilitation project will begin Tuesday night in and around 16th Avenue Southeast to improve the local sewer system — the work will continue during nighttime hours.  Decatur Daily
