- ➤ Charles and Dale Brown said last week a caller posing as a federal agent told Dale her identity was at risk and urged her to withdraw money and deposit $13,000 into a Bitcoin account using a Decatur ATM—money the couple will never see again. - ➤ Decatur police arrested Aloysius Sears on three credit and debit card fraud warrants after a burglary on January 20 led to a stolen card being used at a business on Austinville Road+ he is now held on a $3,000 bond after being moved from Madison County Jail to Morgan County Jail on April 1. - ➤ Somerville police pulled over a speeding vehicle on AL-36 East Tuesday and detected an odor of alcohol from a 42-year-old driver; after field sobriety tests confirmed he was under the influence and he resisted arrest on the highway, he was taken to Morgan County Jail and now faces charges including DUI, resisting arrest, open container and other traffic violations. - ➤ On Tuesday, Alabama Commissioner Rick Pate announced that the USDA designated 20 North Alabama counties, including Morgan, as primary natural disaster areas due to the severe drought and listed 18 nearby counties as eligible for Farm Service Agency emergency loan assistance. Farmers in these areas have eight months from the March 25 declaration to apply & verify details with their local USDA offices. News 19
