CRIME NEWS

  • A Moulton man was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine after Morgan County Sheriff’s Office agents stopped his vehicle in Decatur last week — they seized 29 grams of the drug.  Decatur Daily
  • Phillip Jerome Cartee—a Hartselle man—was arrested on March 22 on three counts of child sexual abuse and first-degree sodomy against a child under 12, with charges noting the abuse happened before July 1, and he is held without bond pending an Aniah’s Law hearing.  News 19
  • A Decatur man was arrested last week+ he faces second degree domestic violence charges after allegedly attacking the mother of his children, according to the Decatur Police Department.  Decatur Daily

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported that on March 24, Decatur drivers paid an average of $2.68 per gallon for regular gasoline while Huntsville drivers paid $2.75 per gallon and mid-grade and premium prices were slightly higher. AAA also offered fuel-saving tips such as driving steadily and reducing idling to help local consumers manage costs.  Rocket City Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Morgan County Health Department released health inspection scores for food and lodging establishments inspected March 17-22 using a 100-point scale—one Decatur Publix earned a perfect score. Several Decatur locations received critical violation reports for issues like improper food temperatures and sanitation concerns.  WAAY-TV
