CRIME NEWS

  • Decatur Police arrested a Tanner woman—48-year-old Malinda Williams—on a warrant for second-degree retail theft related to a November 22 incident at Belk, and she is now held in Morgan County Jail on a $2,500 bond.  News 19

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Alabama lawmakers advanced a bill to require pharmacy benefit managers pay Medicaid reimbursement rates—this comes after many independent pharmacies closed because they could not cover their costs. The legislation now moves to the House for further review.  Rocket City Now
  • A House committee approved a bill to make Juneteenth a state holiday after Rep. Rick Rehm removed a rule that made state workers choose between Juneteenth and a Confederate holiday—state employees will now have Juneteenth off. Some lawmakers, including Rep. Juandalynn Givan, opposed the change—fiscal notes show the cost will rise only slightly.  Rocket City Now

  • Decatur Morgan Hospital is broadening its breast health services by offering advanced mammograms and breast biopsies in one visit — the new service will help women get faster and clearer results.  Decatur Daily
