  • North Alabama Scottish Festival and Highland Games will debut at Point Mallard Park March 14-15. The two-day event will feature competitions, clan gatherings, music, and food vendors and offers a chance for local celebration of Scottish traditions.  WAAY-TV
  • Florence native Kutter Bradley, now living in Nashville, will compete on American Idol soon as he shares his music journey from his hometown to a national stage. His participation promises to bring local spirit to the widely watched contest.  WAAY-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA reported Monday, Mar. 9 that regular gas in Decatur cost $2.99 per gallon, while nearby Huntsville and Florence-Muscle Shoals had slightly different prices. The report offered fuel-saving tips for drivers (smooth acceleration and reduced idling helped) to keep local commuters informed.  Rocket City Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The US Navy will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 20 for a 2.2 million sqft defense industrial facility in Muscle Shoals. Congressman Aderholt said the new facility is expected to create thousands of manufacturing jobs & boost maritime production in NW Alabama.  WAAY-TV
