- ➤ Allegiant launched a nonstop flight from Huntsville International Airport to St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport today, operating twice weekly on Sundays and Thursdays. - ➤ The North Alabama Scottish Festival and Highland Games will debut on March 14-15 and bring music, athletic competition and Scottish heritage to Point Mallard Park. Decatur Morgan County Tourism announced the event Thursday. Decatur Daily
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Morgan County Schools is set to install new weapons detection systems at its five high schools in partnership with Xtract One Technologies to boost security. A demonstration at Priceville High—set for March 12 at 7:15 a.m.—will show the system in action. WAAY-TV

- ➤ UAH women's basketball earned a record 28th win with an 80-61 victory over Trevecca Nazarene in the GSC Semifinals at SportsMED Arena in Spragins Hall last night. The Chargers are 28-4 and will play the Union Bulldogs in the championship game on Sunday at 1 p.m. WAAY-TV
