- ➤ Gas prices increased overnight from $3.10 to $3.19 per gallon, driven by global supply issues as conflict in Iran disrupted a key oil shipping lane (including the Strait of Hormuz). Decatur drivers may face further pump price rises in the coming days. Rocket City Now
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Governor Kay Ivey signed The Healthy Early Development and Screen Time Act on March 4, limiting screen time for young children in childcare centers, preschool, and kindergarten statewide. The law will go into effect Jan. 1, 2027, with guidelines and training for educators to be developed. AL.com
- ➤ Amy Hood, an interventionist at Priceville Elementary, was named the Chamber’s SuperStar Teacher for February 2026. The award brought a $150 gift card for her classroom, a $50 gift card for personal use, & a $1,000 grant for her school, presented by Hubbard & Drake. Decatur Chamber of Commerce

- ➤ LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is urgently calling for platelet and negative blood donors after collections dropped over the past week. Eligible donors can schedule an appointment or walk in at any local center (donors receive a LifeSouth T-shirt as thanks). Rocket City Now
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ High school baseball teams from the Tennessee Valley will play at Toyota Field this spring, starting Saturday, March 14 (gates open one hour before first pitch).
