- ➤ Caddo-Midway Fire and Rescue District is raising money for Linda Decatur, who lost everything in a Tuesday house fire, by collecting Visa gift cards or cash donations at the East Lawrence Dollar General on Highway 24 to help her family start over. WAAY-TV

- ➤ Downtown Decatur will host its 15th annual Carnegie Carnival featuring a Mardi Gras parade with thousands of strands of beads, doubloons and MoonPies on Feb. 14 — event organizers expect a lively turnout as participants join the celebration. Decatur Daily

- ➤ Austinville teacher Rachel Harbin (named the state's outstanding young music educator of the year) said her favorite part of teaching is helping every student discover music. The honor recognizes her dedication to inspiring young minds. Decatur Daily

- ➤ Rocket City Championship Wrestling hosts an electrifying match night today at 7 p.m. at (14981 U.S. Highway 231/431) where New World's Heavyweight Champion Scrap Iron Lewis defends his title against Tiger Kid as other bouts promise extra thrills. WAAY-TV
- ➤ Dell Pettus, a Sparkman High School graduate, will play in the Super Bowl Sunday at 5:30 p.m. for the New England Patriots against the Seahawks (he recorded over 300 tackles during five seasons at Troy University). WAAY-TV
- ➤ Five Trash Pandas players will compete in the 2026 World Baseball Classic from March 5-17 in Miami, Houston, San Juan, and Tokyo — featuring Adrian Almeida, Gustavo Campero, Sam Aldegheri, Samy Natera Jr., and Ray-Patrick Didder. - ➤ The Alabama High School Athletic Association expanded the 6A football playoffs from 16 to 24 teams at its winter meeting, and the new format will start in the 2026-2027 season — giving more schools a chance to host playoff games. WAAY-TV
