  • As winter weather sets in, local pet owners are advised to bring dogs indoors when temperatures drop, especially for small, thin-coated, or elderly breeds. Experts warn that dogs showing shivering or fatigue need extra care to reduce risks of hypothermia and frostbite — a reminder to monitor pets closely.  Rocket City Now
  • The Morgan County Health Department published inspection scores for food and lodging places inspected Jan. 12-17. Local establishments in Decatur and Hartselle received scores from 76 to 99 while some showed critical hygiene issues that officials say need swift attention.  WAAY-TV
